
Dr. Laurence A. Becker
Laurence A. Becker, PhD is an educator that has been involved with film since 1969.
He founded and directed the Texas Student Film Festival.
In 1983 he produced WITH EYES WIDE OPEN, an international, award-winning documentary film about Richard Wawro, autistic savant artist from Scotland.
In 2000, he directed an International Gathering of Savants at the University of Texas.
In 2006 he published “Gifts Along the Whole Spectrum: The Portrayal of Disability in Film” in KALEIDOSCOPE Magazine.
His film course about extraordinary people brings together films, books, and other resources.
Over the past thirty years he has introduced the art of four accomplished autistic savant artists and continues to lead workshops and consult throughout the United States.
