
Thomas A. McKean
Thomas A. McKean was diagnosed with autism in 1979.
He has served two terms (five years) on the national board of the Autism Society of America, and has done private consulting for families and school systems across the United States and Canada.
He has also addressed the Senate and Congress regarding disability issues, funding and awareness.
A sought after conference speaker, Thomas has received an honorary Colonel’s commission for his work with international advocacy.
He is the author of two books – his first, Soon Will Come the Light, which took a national ASA literary achievement award and later appeared along with Thomas on the Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as Light on the Horizon a how to book in dealing with various aspects of the autistic disorder.
Thomas resides in the Blue Ridge Mountains with his cat, Reiki.
